A recommended tour by foot from the Mouraria neighbourhood to Miradouro da Graca by Julie
“Starting from Praca da Figueira, where the metro stops or from Praca Martim Moniz, you walk up Calçada dos Cavalheiros to Largo do Terreirinho. This is where the Mouraria neighbourhood starts. This antique square is a nice place to have lunch. Taverna de Poco Largo is a real traditional Portugese restaurant where you can have a 5 course meal (cheese, soup, main course, desert, coffee and wine) for only about 10 euros. This restaurant is only open during the day until around 18:00. There’s other small restaurants on the square opened till later. Holiday apartment in Mouraria with patio

Walking on, up Calçada de St. Andre you will cross a remarkable shoeshop (on number 41 a). Anyone under the impression that only women are fond of fashionable womens shoes and have their cuboards stuffed with hundreds of pairs is proven wrong by Senhor Raimundo Ferão. He collects women’s shoes for almost all his life, but only new pairs from the era 1940-1970. Sometimes he sells a pair, but his store is more like a museum and to be fair: the shoes are a bit dusty. Raimundo Ferão is considering closing his shop, but it would be a shame if his collection would be lost.

Then you turn left and continue your voyage up the steep street Calçada da Graça. Just before arriving on Largo da Graça, you will find Miradouro da Graça on your left hand sight. You can’t miss it. Sit down, have a bica (coffee) and enjoy the view over the city.”
